Talia Hale is mother to Derek, Laura and Cora Hale and is Peter Hale's older sister.

She was an extremely powerful Alpha with the rare ability to shape shift into an actual wolf which made her a leader in the larger Werewolf community.

She advised Deucalion in his attempt to broker peace with the Argents. She used a metal disk imprinted with a triskelion as a focus object in an attempt to teach her children to control their shifts during a full moon.


Though she is dead in the Hale fire, Derek managed to recover her claws from the debris. Peter attached the claws to his fingers, puncturing Derek's neck to allow him to see and communicate with Talia. Which does not work and Peter is quite determined to find out what memory was his in the claws.

Peter gives the claws to Lydia so that she can hear the whispers from the claws to find out what memory Talia took from him. It is later revealed that Talia stole Peter’s memory about his daughter Malia.

Peter Hale

Peter Hale was born into a family of werewolves and has always resented that his sister, Talia Hale, reached Alpha status in the pack, believing that place rightfully belonged to him.
 Even as a Teenager, Peter was manipulative. He convinced his young nephew, Derek Hale, that his girlfriend would leave him if he didn’t have her turned into a werewolf.

When arsonists attacked Hale House, Peter survived while most of the family died. He was badly burned and went into a self-induced coma to heal. While he was out, Peter’s mind raced with thoughts of revenge. He blamed Talia for making the family weak and plotted to kill all the supernaturals in Beacon Hills and remake the town in his own image.

Six years after the fire, Peter seemed to have forgotten his plans for a new Beacon Hills. Instead, he sought revenge on the arsonists who had burned down Hale House. While seemingly still in a non-responsive state and with the aid of his nurse, Peter managed to kill his niece, Laura Hale, and take her Alpha status for himself.
 He began building a pack by biting Scott McCall. It was this act that eventually led to the exposure of his revenge plan and Peter’s “death” at the hands of his nephew Derek.

Another bite would be his salvation.
Knowing that Lydia Martin would be “immune” to the werewolf bite, Peter attacked and bit her. Through the bite, he implanted his memories into her just prior to the final showdown with Scott and Derek. Once Lydia recovered from the bite, the memories took the form of hallucinations that instructed her on the means to bring Peter back from the dead.
 The plan had to be completed by the second full moon after his death. She found Peter’s body buried under Hale House surrounded by wolfsbane. She then used wolfsbane hidden in drinks to drug Scott and anyone else who might interfere. She collected Derek, now an Alpha, by knocking him out with wolfsbane powder and dragging him to Peter’s body. The full power of the full moon and Derek’s Alpha spark allowed Peter to heal fully.

Peter claimed the return to life left him weak and he stayed near his nephew for months subtly manipulating him. Peter stayed out of a conflict with a pack of Alphas until the very end when he killed a rogue druid and declared himself “The Alpha.”
Peter further insinuated himself into Scott’s group of friends by aiding in the rescue of Stiles Stilinski from possession by a Nogitsune and in the process learned that he has a daughter. He believes Talia took the memory of the baby and her mother from his mind.


He is still bitter about Scott's rise to True Alpha status and wants to regain the status and power his family once enjoyed. He feels that the fire and Scott robbed him of his birthright.
He meets up with Madeline Roberts the head of Silver Rose and stuck a deal with her. They both decide to work together and he promises her all the bearer bonds present in his vault. He convinces Madeline to get the bite from a weak alpha and later kill him so that she can become the alpha and have her own pack.

He helped her in the hiest of the Hale family Vault and pretended in front of everyone that he was robbed and made sure that everyone believed his innocence.

Laura Hale 

Dead

Status : Alpha Werewolf 

Family : Talia Hale (Mother, dead) , Peter Hale (Uncle) , Derek Hale (Brother) , Cora Hale (Sister)

Laura was born a werewolf.
The majority of her family died in a fire set by a pair of arsonists at the behest of Kate Argent.
Laura and her brother, Derek, were not home at the time of the fire. Her uncle Peter Hale escaped the blaze but was left comatose and badly scarred.
Laura and Derek both left Beacon Hills after the fire.
Later on, Laura came back to Beacon Hills when she saw the dead deer bearing the spiral symbol on its body. She enters the woods in hopes of finding the werewolf who did it, but ends up running into who was beginning to transform into a werewolf, ready to kill her.
The police found half of her body and were looking for the other half in the woods. The discovery of half of her body leads Scott McCall and Stiles Stilinski into the woods on the night Scott is bitten by Peter.
The top half of Laura’s body was buried at the Hale House surrounded by a spiral of wolfsbane studded rope by Derek.
Peter Hale admits he killed Laura but claims he did not know what he was doing at the time. But later, Scott discovered that Peter had intentionally killed her in order to become an Alpha.

Derek Hale  

Age : mid 20’s 

Status : Beta Werewolf  

Family : Talia hale (Mother, dead), Peter Hale (Uncle), Laura Hale (sister, dead), Cora Hale (Sister)

Derek was born into a family of werewolves. His mother, Talia, was much respected within the werewolf community meaning Derek came into contact with members of a number of other packs.

He and his family lived in Hale House in Beacon Hills, California and he attended Beacon Hills High School.

Peter Hale claims a 15-year-old Derek conspired with an Alpha (Ennis) to have Derek's girlfriend (Paige) bitten in hopes of turning her into a werewolf.

The process didn't take and, to end her suffering, Derek killed her.

Having taken an innocent life, his eyes changed from yellow to blue.

Sometime later, Derek entered into a relationship with werewolf hunter Kate Argent. She used him to gather information on his family making him an unwitting accomplice to the arson fire at Hale House that killed most of his family.

After his Uncle Peter killed the conspirators involved in the fire, Derek killed him and took the status of Alpha Werewolf.

In order to save the life of his sister Cora, long thought dead in the fire, Derek gave up the spark that made him an Alpha. His eyes turned from red back to blue.

Derek is tied up and covered in cobwebs, in what appears to be an Aztec temple in Mexico by Kate Argent. She somehow physically regressed Derek back to the age of 15 when Scott rescues him.

Derek who is regressed physically and mentally to the age of 15, returns to Beacon Hills. He doesn't remember the fire that killed his family. And seeing this as an advantage, Kate convinces him to open the Hale Family Vault underneath Beacon Hills High School to retrieve the triskelion as she is unable to control her shift. During the fight with the Berserkers, Scot calls out for his pack which included Derek. The call of an alpha brought Derek to them and he shifted back to his old self.

Derek is bent on finding Kate in hopes of learning what she did to him to cause his eyes to revert from blue to yellow.

Cora Hale 

Age : 18 

Status : Beta Werewolf 

Family : Talia hale (Mother, dead), Peter Hale (Uncle), Laura Hale (sister, dead), Derek Hale (Brother) 

Cora was held prisoner in a bank vault lined with Hecatolite which blocked her from moonlight for three months. When once again exposed to the power of the moon, she turned wild and was out of control. Allison breaks the mountain ash barrier and she and Boyd escape the vault. Cora and Boyd led Derek, Scott, Isaac, and Chris Argent on a chase through Beacon Hills Preserve and the high school. She's frustrated with Derek saying "I came back for this?". She had apparently heard there was a powerful new Alpha in Beacon Hills who was also a member of the Hale family. 

Cora, Derek and Boyd plan an attack on the Alphas. Her uncle, Peter Hale, and Scott protest. During the fight Cora gets in a few good hits but is again put down by the stronger Alphas. After Derek’s apparent death, Cora and Peter search for his body. He questions where she’s been for the six years since the fire – she does not give him an answer.

On Derek's orders, Cora goes to Lydia to tell her not to see Aiden anymore. While at the school, she helps Stiles as he attempts to trigger Lydia's "power" in an attempt to find Deaton. Cora returns with them to Derek's loft to restore power and stop Kali's attack. After Boyd's death, she holds his body and weeps. Cora listens to Peter on Derek's story about Paige to find out what made Derek the way he is now.

Cora attempts to attack Aiden in the locker room, but she is defeated by the stronger Alpha. Oddly enough, Cora sustains a head injury during the fight, but it does not heal. She eventually ends up in the hospital. Cora's condition worsens. She vomits mistletoe and black goo. When the hospital is evacuated, Cora becomes a pawn of the Darach in her battle against the Alpha Pack.Derek tries to help her heal by taking her pain away. Cora helps revive Ethan and Aiden with the help of Lydia and Dr. Deaton. In the end she leaves Beacon Hills with Derek.

But comes back to Beacon Hills when she finds that Derek has gone missing. Ever since then Cora stays with her brother.

Malia Hale 

Age : 17  

Status Werecoyote 

Family : Peter Hale (Father), Corrine- The Desert Wolf (Mother), Henry Tate (Adopted father), Evelyn Tate (Adopted Mother), Cassandra Carter (Half Sister) 

Malia was born on November 28 at Midtown Memorial Hospital. She was officially adopted less than a month later by Evelyn and Henry Tate.

For several years, Malia believed herself responsible for killing her adoptive mother and sister.

She thought she'd lost control and transformed on a full moon while the three were riding in a car. Malia was 9 years old. Just before the accident, she had argued with her mother and said she wished they were all dead. This adds to her feelings of guilt about the incident.

She's recently recovered a memory of her birth mother, the Desert Wolf, firing guns at the car before the crash.

After the crash, Malia remained a fully transformed coyote and lived in a den near the crash site for eight years. She kept many of her human belongings and developed a sentimental attachment to her younger sister's doll.

She is, at first, resentful that Scott McCall forced her to return to human form and is unable to change back. She was committed to Eichen House, a mental institution for a brief time.

Scott helped Malia to harness her shapeshifting abilities while Stiles Stilinski helped her reintegrate into human society and think less like a coyote.

Having learned that Peter Hale is her father, she is trying to come into terms with the news, while also knowing that he has another daughter two years younger to her, Cassandra Carter.
